The view from our “front” door {post 8}

By Pinktoesandpowertools | Progress Posts

I’m out of ideas for a title to this post, so it will remain “post 8” and that is all.  This is a progress report:

The base with the face frame attached.  I will have to get better at making things square, but I’m not really sure how to improve on this.  I did bruise the instep of my right foot by attempting to “nudge” the longer edge of this piece with it.  Apparently my foot is softer than wood.  Live and learn.

The drawer boxes are perfectly square and beautiful!  Success!  But the area for the cabinet doors is not.  I’m thinking that since that area will house the litter box, I’ll make them fake doors that don’t actually open.  Why would I want people opening up the doors to see cat litter?  I think since it is not square, the doors won’t function properly.  Problem solved {I wish my learning curve projects were free}.

I used one of the shelves to hold the bottom to the right width when I nailed the face frame on the hutch.

It really felt like the project was flying together and I was so excited to see them completed and in the laundry room!  But then I spent an entire afternoon cutting the rest of the plywood into drawer pieces and pieces for the doors.  I don’t know why I thought that wasn’t going to take too much time, but I spent a LOT of time making the drawer pieces perfect so they will work right.

I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel–so excited to see how this turns out!!
